Know Your Core Values

Helping clients to explore, identify, and honor their personal set of core values is one of the most powerful tools a coach can offer.

You know something is a core value for you when the following is TRUE for that value...

When you are living your life in alignment with this value, you are happier, have more energy, are more passionate about your life, and feel more fulfilled. When you are not living your life in alignment with this value (even if everything else seems great), you may feel sad, distracted, lack motivation, resistant, or just plain old stuck.

A fairly common example of someone living out of alignment with a core value might be having a well-paying and comfortable job for a company whose product, service, or public behavior violates one of your core values. No matter how much you justify your choice to work there, something just never feels right about it.

Another really useful benefit of knowing and paying attention to your core values is when you have to make important or difficult decisions in your life. Does a given choice or decision align with one or more of your core values? Does it violate any of your core values? Running choices through your core values filter can make decision making easier and more likely that the decision will feel right after you make it.

There are a number of different processes that can be used to unearth your core values. As your coach, I can help guide you through this process.
